While waiting for spring to come so I can move to the garage to continue building my canoe, I decided to start on some paddles. The first one I've finished is a kid sized "Beavertail" paddle. I figured I would start with something smaller so less wood would get wasted if I messed up.
The shaft is Ash with dark strips of Aromatic Cedar and the rest of the blade is Red Cedar. It's soft but I figure I would rather have the paddle dent than the canoe when the kids hit the canoe with it. I finished the paddle with Tung oil.
